Sacramento Valley Chapter
of CSEA
Mission Statement:
The mission of the California Society of Enrolled Agents is to empower, engage and advocate for California Enrolled Agents.
What is an Enrolled Agent?
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is an individual who has demonstrated technical competence in the field of taxation. Enrolled Agents, or EAs, can represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service.
What does the term “Enrolled Agent” mean?
“Enrolled” means EAs are licensed by the federal government. “Agent” means EAs are authorized to appear in place of the taxpayer at the Internal Revenue Service. Only EAs, attorneys and CPAs may represent taxpayers before the IRS. The Enrolled Agent profession dates back to 1884 when, after questionable claims had been presented for Civil War losses, Congress acted to regulate persons who represented citizens in their dealings with the Treasury Department.
We Need You!!
Our chapter has big plans for the year ahead but we need your help!
We are always looking for help in the Membership Committee, Education Committee, Communications Committee (newsletters, website, etc), PIA Committee and in our Legislative Committee.
There are jobs as simple as helping with registration at events, handling paperwork for our education events, contacting new members and potential members, volunteering to visit your local Senate or Assembly members on behalf of CSEA, and the list goes on.
If you are interested in learning more and becoming more involved in your local chapter please
speak with one of the chapter board members.
Sac Valley Yahoo Group
New Yahoo Group!
We have formed a new yahoo group to encourage participation in our Sacramento Valley Chapter activities, timely distribute information direct from government agency liaisons, and provide a resource to our members and friends of the chapter to connect with other professionals.
We want to encourage our membership to be involved in the decisions regarding financial, educational, publicity and social activities. The board of the chapter needs your support in all these activities. We also need your support in finding and electing new members of the board. Another big component of the yahoo group will be to provide timely access to helpful information and resources! We are often contacted by our local IRS Stakeholder Liaison and other representatives with information that may be helpful to your practice. The yahoo group will allow timely publishing of this information as well as a way for members to connect with each other.
The SacValleyChapterEAs group is a private group to be shared only by our chapter members and friends of the chapter. Only they will be able to send and receive messages.
