DESCRIPTION:

This course is a must-do for any tax practitioner with clients in California or doing business in California.  Throughout the class, we will look into the various factors that contribute to income being taxed by the State and the way in which it is taxed.  These factors include what defines a resident of California, how the physical location of an individual or business affects taxation, how the Franchise Tax Board treats temporary stays or absences, and what things the State of California considers income.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1)  Learn how to define a CA resident for taxation purposes.
2)  Learn how the FTB considers temporary or transitory stays.
3)  Learn how coming into or leaving CA affects taxation by the FTB.
4)  Learn more about FTB audit activities.
5)  Learn more about the intersection of CA and Federal tax laws.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: STEVE SIMS, EA

Steve Sims is a true California taxation expert. He spent 32 years working with the California Franchise Tax Board, working in the audit, collections, and outreach offices.
